  5. Welcome to DocAssembler! I hope that here you will find a quick answer to the most common questions that arise when new software is encountered. For a complete reference, please see the application manual in Adobe Acrobat format.

  7. What does DocAssembler do?
  8.  
  9. It collects text documents, which are supposed to be ﾒsectionsﾓ of a global target document, then produces that document. It's a sort of document ﾒglueﾓ.

  11. Between these two phases, the user can arrange the structure of the target document by changing both the order of the sections and their hierarchical level, relying upon DocAssembler for their automatic indexing.

  13. Both the source and the output documents can be provided in a variety of formats, thanks to Claris XTND System support. DocAssembler will read and write any text document for which an XTND translator is available.

  15. Although DocAssembler is conceived as a standalone application, its value is greatly enhanced when used togheter with its companion DocBreaker, which breaks a document in pieces and supports the XTND System as well, thus constituting an ideal pre-processor for DocAssembler.

  33. ･ Drag and Drop extension (optional, but strongly recommended)

  36. How much should I pay for it?

  38. DocAssembler is distributed as SHAREWARE (not freeware). After a 15 days trial period, if you decide to continue using it, you are required to register your copy by sending me the requested fee.

  40. The fee for a single user license is US$ 20. You can obtain an unlimited site license for US$ 400 or an unlimited world license for US$1,600.

  44. IMPORTANT NOTICE

  46. Unregistered copies of DocAssembler cannot add more than 5 files to a single document.

  48. If you are trying one of the AppleScript samples with an unregistered copy, you will notice a long delay before execution begins: don't be afraid, it's not a crash, it's the normal delay produced by the startup screen. Just wait, it will be bypassed, you will only need to dismiss the screen after the script end in order to quit DocAssembler.
